Minister Jung Sung-ho of the Ministry of Justice said on the 81st Liberation Day on the 15th, "If the second Committee for the Investigation of Pro-Japanese Property launches, we expect to recover at least 32.5 billion won in pro-Japanese property."
The Minister said in a Facebook post that "the Lee Jae-myung administration has pursued the recovery of pro-Japanese property as a key task from the outset, and as a result, the Pro-Japanese Property Recovery Act passed the National Assembly in May," adding, "Recovered property will be used for the welfare of independence patriots and their descendants."
The Minister said, "We also restarted lawsuits to recover assets from the descendants of pro-Japanese and anti-national collaborators such as Lee Hae-seung, Shin U-seon, Im Seon-jun, and Park Hee-yang, which had been halted under the previous administration," adding, "In the lawsuit against the descendants of Im Seon-jun, we won entirely in the first trial."
She added, "We must build a just country where those who gave everything for the nation are respected, and the share unjustly gained by those who sold out the nation to amass wealth and honor returns to its rightful place," and said, "The Ministry of Justice will, in the spirit of Liberation, set history straight and do its part so that all people can take pride in an independent Republic of Korea."
