Saturday the 15th, Liberation Day, is expected to see showers mainly in central regions, with rain in the forecast nationwide from the afternoon. The daytime high will climb to 35 degrees, and the midday heat is expected to continue.
On the 15th, the Korea Meteorological Administration said, "Some places on Jeju Island will see rain," and noted, "Rain will begin from the afternoon in South Jeolla and South Gyeongsang, and from the night in southern North Chungcheong and South Chungcheong, North Jeolla, and North Gyeongsang."
Some areas in central regions and the mid- to northern inland of North Gyeongsang will see showers from morning through the night.
Expected rainfall on the 15th: ▲ Busan, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang 50~150 mm ▲ Gwangju, South Jeolla 50~100 mm ▲ North Jeolla, Daegu, North Gyeongsang, Jeju 30~80 mm ▲ Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, North Chungcheong 20~60 mm.
More than 200 mm is expected along the western South Gyeongsang south coast and near Jirisan Mountain; more than 150 mm along the South Jeolla south coast, near Jirisan Mountain, and in the mountains of Jeju; and more than 100 mm in southern North Gyeongsang and Daegu.
In particular, from late night, some places along the South Jeolla south coast and near Jirisan Mountain will see very heavy rain of 20~30 mm per hour, and the mountains of Jeju will see 30~50 mm per hour. Except for the Jeju mountains, other regions are also expected to see 20~30 mm per hour from late night.
In areas where it rains, gusty winds with thunder and lightning are possible, so caution is advised to prevent accidents.
Showers are expected in central regions and elsewhere. From morning through the night, expected rainfall from showers in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous Gangwon, Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, North Chungcheong, and the mid- to northern inland of North Gyeongsang is 5~50 mm in each area.
Centered on parts of southern inland Gangwon and the Jeolla region where heat advisories are in effect, the maximum heat index will rise to around 33 degrees, and it will be sweltering.
With a tropical night advisory issued for parts of inland North Jeolla, some urban and coastal areas will continue to see nighttime lows of 25 degrees or higher for the time being, bringing tropical nights to some locations.
Morning lows will range from 20 to 25 degrees, and daytime highs will fluctuate between 27 and 33 degrees, similar to the average (lows 21~24 degrees, highs 28~32 degrees).
