On the 15th, which is Liberation Day and a Saturday, the country will be mostly cloudy, with heavy rain pouring down from the afternoon, mainly in the southern regions.
Jeju Island will see rain throughout the day, and rain will begin in the Jeolla South region and Gyeongsang South region from the afternoon. At night, the rain band is expected to expand to the southern Chungcheong region, North Jeolla, and the Gyeongsang North region.
In particular, along the South Jeolla south coast and near Jirisan Mountain, heavy rain of 20–30 mm per hour is expected between late night and the early hours of the 16th. Jeju Island may also see torrential downpours of 20–50 mm per hour from the evening to the early hours of the following day, so caution is needed.
Expected rainfall on the 15th–16th is 20–60 mm in the Chungcheong region and 50–100 mm in Gwangju and South Jeolla. In the South Jeolla south coast and near Jirisan Mountain, some areas may receive more than 150 mm. North Jeolla is forecast to get 30–80 mm of rain.
Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang will see 50–150 mm, and more than 200 mm may pour down along the South Gyeongsang western south coast and near Jirisan Mountain. Expected rainfall in Daegu and North Gyeongsang is 30–80 mm, with more than 100 mm possible in parts of Daegu and the southern North Gyeongsang region.
Ulleung Island and Dokdo are forecast to get 20–60 mm, and Jeju Island 30–80 mm of rain. Heavy rain of more than 150 mm is expected in Jeju's mountainous areas.
Where it rains, strong showers accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and lightning may occur, so take care with facility management and safety.
In the central region and the mid- to northern inland of North Gyeongsang, some areas may see showers from the morning to nighttime. Expected shower amounts are 5–50 mm in the capital area, Gangwon Province, the Chungcheong region, and the Gyeongsang region.
The heat will continue. With heat advisories in effect mainly for parts of the inland southern Gangwon and the Jeolla region, the maximum heat index is expected to rise to around 33 degrees, so caution is advised to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Morning lows are forecast at 20–25 degrees, and daytime highs at 27–33 degrees.
Waves will run 0.5–1.0 meters off the east and west coasts and 0.5–1.5 meters off the south coast. In the outer inner seas, they are forecast at 0.5–1.0 meters in the East Sea, 0.5–1.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5–2.0 meters in the South Sea.
