The social media (SNS) account of a woman in her 40s, identified as A, who has raised allegations about actor Hwang Jung-min's private life, has suddenly become inaccessible. It came two days after prosecutors sought a fine of 10 million won for A.
According to the industry on the 13th, the SNS account where A had been continuing claims related to Hwang Jung-min is currently inaccessible. It was not confirmed whether the account was deleted, switched to private, or if the SNS operator took action on the account.
A recently continued claims through the account that A had a private relationship with Hwang Jung-min. A released messages and call recordings that A claims the two exchanged, and raised claims about A's relationship and dispute process with Hwang Jung-min.
Hwang Jung-min's side has denied A's claims and countered that A persistently stalked Hwang Jung-min.
A is on trial on charges including violating the Act on Punishment of Crime of Stalking.
At a sentencing hearing held on Aug. 11 before Presiding Judge Kim Young-a of the Uijeongbu District Court, Goyang Branch, Criminal Division 4, prosecutors sought a fine of 10 million won and an order to complete a stalking treatment program for A.
Prosecutors asked the court to consider that A repeatedly contacted Hwang Jung-min and family members over a long period and posted writings on SNS targeting Hwang Jung-min and the family during the trial.
A's side denied the stalking charge. A's attorney argued that while Hwang Jung-min once asked to refrain from contacting, there were also instances where Hwang Jung-min called first or responded favorably to A's contact.
In A's final statement, A argued to the effect that "the claim that I was a stalker who unilaterally chased one person for two years is a completely different story."
During the proceedings, prosecutors also asked about the circumstances under which A sent Hwang Jung-min messages suggesting suicide, a will file, a photo of a cat's corpse, and a photo of bloodstained tissue. They also checked how A contacted Hwang Jung-min's underage child.
A admitted to sending the related messages, files, and photos, but testified to the effect that there was no intent to cause anxiety or fear to the other party.
Earlier in Feb., the court issued a summary order fining A 3 million won. As A objected, a formal trial proceeded.
The first-instance sentencing hearing for A is scheduled for Sept. 8.
