A is accused of secretly filming women's bodies by installing a small camera in the women's locker room of a fitness center in a commercial building in Jinju starting in May. It was found that A bought a small camera online, attached it to a tumbler, and left it in the locker room.
After becoming aware of the crime in May, police analyzed closed-circuit (CC)TV and other footage to identify A. A digital forensic analysis of the videos stored on the camera confirmed five victims. No signs were found of the footage being distributed externally.
In a police interview, A admitted all the allegations and was quoted as saying A "committed the crime out of curiosity." A prior record of a similar offense was also confirmed during the investigation.
Police sought an arrest warrant for A last month, but the court rejected it, citing reasons including no risk of flight.
The Jinju Fire Station plans to proceed with suspending A from duty and disciplinary proceedings based on the police investigation results.
