Showers are expected in many parts of the country on Friday the 14th. On the 15th, Liberation Day, showers will continue mainly inland.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 13th, showers of 5–40 mm are expected in many parts of the country from morning to evening on the 14th. Showers are forecast for most areas, including the capital region, inland Gangwon, the Chungcheong region, the Jeolla region, and the Gyeongsang region.
In areas with showers, some places will see thunder and lightning with gusty winds. Because heavy rain can fall in a short period, caution is needed to prevent accidents along rivers and in valleys.
Rain will continue along the east coast and on Jeju Island. On the east coast of Gangwon and in the mountains, rain will fall through the afternoon of the 14th, and on Jeju Island through the early morning of the 14th. Some inland areas of central and northern Gangwon will also see rain from early morning to morning on the 14th.
Expected rainfall on the 13th–14th is 10–50 mm for the east coast and mountains of Gangwon, and around 5 mm for inland central and northern Gangwon. Ulleung Island and Dokdo are expected to see 5–20 mm, and Jeju Island 5–10 mm.
Showers will intensify on the 15th, Liberation Day. From afternoon to evening, showers of 5–50 mm are expected in many parts of the country. The capital region, inland and mountainous Gangwon, the Chungcheong region, the Jeolla region, and the Gyeongsang region are included. On Jeju Island, rain will begin on the night of the 14th and continue through the 15th, with more than 60 mm possible in the mountains of Jeju.
Temperatures on the 14th are forecast to range from a low of 20–24 C in the morning to a high of 27–35 C during the day. Highs in major cities will be 33 C in Seoul, 32 C in Incheon, 33 C in Daejeon, 34 C in Gwangju, 34 C in Daegu, 32 C in Ulsan, and 31 C in Busan.
From the 16th, rain is expected to expand nationwide. Starting in the Chungcheong region and the south before dawn on the 16th, rain will spread to other areas from the morning, and most of the country is expected to see rain continue through the 17th.
Caution is also needed for high waves along the coasts. Long-period swells will flow strongly into the east coast through the 14th, and into the South Jeolla coast, South Gyeongsang coast, and Jeju coasts through the 15th. In particular, from the night of the 13th to the early morning of the 14th, sea levels will rise along the west and south coasts and Jeju coasts, and a storm surge advisory may be issued, so check the latest weather information.
