Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (BKL) said on the 12th that it has launched and is operating an "AI infrastructure strategy center" dedicated to advising on artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and digital infrastructure projects.
The center is led by Bae, Kim & Lee managing partner Lee Jun-gi. More than 100 experts in related fields, including real estate and construction; mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and foreign investment; finance and project financing (PF); energy and infrastructure; regulation and environment; and personal data, are participating.
Bae, Kim & Lee said that as competition in the AI industry expands from models and semiconductors to physical infrastructure such as data centers and electricity, the need has grown to address issues across multiple areas together, from project development to investment and finance, power procurement, and regulatory response.
In energy and infrastructure, participants include former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy Kim Jeong-gwan and former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Song Myeong-dal, as well as attorneys Park Jin-pyo, Lee Gwang-min, Ahn Hyeon-cheol, and Nam Won-cheol. Data center development and real estate will be handled by attorneys Jeon Eun-jin, Song Chi-young, Park Seong-tae, and Ji Seung-eun, and foreign attorney Byun Hyun-seo.
For M&A and foreign investment, participants include attorneys Lee O-ryeong and Jeong Jae-yong, among others, and for finance and PF, attorneys Lee Ji-young, Ryu Myeong-hyeon, Kim Geon-ho, Kim Ho-jin, and Jeong Min-hui are participating. In regulation and environment, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Environment Jeong Yeon-man and former first vice minister of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Kim Jong-mun have joined.
Global regulatory response will be led by former first vice minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Im Seong-nam; Hwang Ho-seong, head of Bae, Kim & Lee's export-import control response center; and attorney Kim Ji-ina. In personal data, attorneys Kang Tae-uk, Yoon Ju-ho, and Lee Gang-hye are participating.
Lee, the managing partner, said, "To operate an AI data center, in addition to expertise in individual fields, you need the ability to coordinate different issues such as development, power, and investment," and added, "We will check risks from the early stages of a project and support clients so their AI infrastructure projects continue stably."
