A poll found that Oh Se-hoon, the Seoul mayor, ranked No. 1 in suitability as the next presidential candidate for the opposition bloc. Across both blocs, he placed second after former Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, with a gap of 0.9 percentage point.
According to the regular survey commissioned by Olresearch and released on the 11th, Oh recorded 13.9% in a suitability survey for the "next presidential material" conducted on 10 figures from both parties.
Former Prime Minister Kim was highest at 14.8%. Following Oh were lawmaker Han Dong-hoon (13.2%), People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok (10.6%), former Rebuilding Korea Party leader Cho Kuk (7.8%), lawmaker Jung Chung-rae (5.4%), lawmaker Lee Jin-sook (4.8%), Reform Party leader Lee Jun-seok (3.8%), Gyeonggi Governor Choo Mi-ae (3.7%), and lawmaker Song Young-gil (3.4%).
Oh received the strongest support among People Power Party supporters. Of 395 People Power Party supporters, 26.1% chose Oh. He outpaced both leader Jang (23.5%) and lawmaker Han (22%). Among Democratic Party supporters, former Prime Minister Kim led with 30.5%, followed by former leader Cho at 14.1% and lawmaker Jung at 10.5%.
The survey was conducted on the 7th and 8th with 1,018 adults nationwide aged 18 or older, using a 100% wireless RDD automated response (ARS) phone method. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, with a contact rate of 20.8% and a response rate of 3.9%.
