At about 11:13 p.m. on the 9th, a fire broke out in the live-seafood section of an agricultural and fisheries market in Songcheon-dong, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, North Jeolla Province.
Fire authorities, judging that the flames could spread to surrounding areas, issued a level-2 response at about 11:29 p.m., 16 minutes after the fire started, and are carrying out suppression efforts.
A level-2 response is an alert that mobilizes personnel and equipment from five to six nearby fire stations. No casualties have been confirmed so far.
Jeonju City sent a safety text message immediately after the fire, asking nearby residents to beware of safety accidents such as smoke inhalation.
Fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of ignition and the scale of property damage as soon as they finish extinguishing the fire.
