The Seoul city government said on the 10th that it will hold the "Yangjaecheon moonlight night run" on the 28th of this month around Yangjaecheon in Seoul.
The moonlight night run is part of a nighttime running project with 7979 Seoul Running Crew. Through this, the city plans to boost nighttime tourism.
The event is designed with the familiar rest culture of "sauna" as its concept so citizens can exercise while enjoying the cool night air in the city during the sweltering summer. By adding elements of rest to running, it offers a unique experience, and the program is arranged so participants can enjoy the charms of the Yangjaecheon area before and after the event.
Participants will run 5.8 kilometers along Yangjaecheon and Yeouicheon, enjoying Seoul's waterfront night views and experiencing everyday sports. They will also receive various props, including sauna locker key goods and a mini sheep-head hairband that create a sauna mood.
In addition, various programs will link local attractions such as the Yangjaecheon waterfront culture rest area and cafe street so that participants can use nearby commercial areas after the run. Finishers will receive a Yangjaecheongil "love local business" coupon tied to Seocho District's project to revitalize local commerce.
Registration for this month's moonlight night run will open at 2 p.m. on the 11th on the Seoul Public Service Reservation website or at Dongma Club. A total of 300 people will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cho Seong-ho, director of the Seoul Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, "We planned a nighttime event so citizens can run through Seoul's beautiful waterfront at night and experience healthy leisure along with local businesses," adding, "We will continue to expand various programs so many citizens can enjoy healthy everyday sports in the evening."
