Police, who have been investigating various corruption suspicions involving independent lawmaker Kim Byung-kee for 11 months, said they would work to wrap up the probe in August.
An official at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said at a regular press briefing on the 10th, "In relation to Rep. Kim's case, issues requiring investigation are emerging little by little, so it is taking time to verify the details," and stated accordingly.
As the investigation into Rep. Kim's case drags on, calls for swift action are growing. The civic group Committee for the Livelihood of Ordinary People and a person surnamed Kim, a former aide in Rep. Kim's office who is the complainant, earlier applied for an investigation review.
An official at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said, "It has been filed with the investigation review division and is under review," and added, "We understand it requests prompt handling, and we will review it and reflect it in the investigation."
