Three members of the Korea University Advancement Association who trespassed into the U.S. Forces Korea Osan Air Base (K-55), shouted slogans, and filmed video were arrested.
According to legal sources on the 7th, the Pyeongtaek branch of the Suwon District Court conducted a pretrial detention hearing for four Korea University Advancement Association members, including a person identified as A, who are suspected of violating the Military Bases and Installations Protection Act, and issued arrest warrants for three of them. For the remaining one, the court rejected the warrant, saying it "cannot recognize an exception to investigation without detention."
At about 10:15 a.m. on the 4th, a Korea University Advancement Association member is suspected of running through the main gate of Osan Air Base, a U.S. Forces Korea facility in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, shouting slogans such as "Let's smash the U.S. 7th Air Force that is obstructing Honam Semiconductors," and filming the scene on video.
The total number of people who entered the base at the time was eight. Police requested arrest warrants for four of them, whom they determined faced more serious charges.
Police plan to hand the suspects over to prosecutors after completing investigations of those in custody. They will continue to question the suspects who are not in custody.
