Students belonging to a university group who entered U.S. Forces Korea Osan Air Base (K-55) without authorization were seized by U.S. troops and will be investigated by police.
According to police on the 4th, at about 10:15 a.m. at the K-55 main gate in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, eight male and female students affiliated with the Korea University Advancement Association (대진연) tried to enter the base.
Of them, six passed through the main gate and went inside the base, and two were stopped at the entrance. The students reportedly shouted slogans such as "Smash the 7th Air Force."
U.S. forces arrested the students who entered the base in the act and handed them over to Korean police.
Police plan to investigate them on suspicion of violating the Protection of Military Bases and Installations Act. Police believe students belonging to 대진연 committed the offense and are verifying the exact circumstances and motive.
