A man in his 40s was arrested and jailed after attacking a foreign woman he did not know with a weapon in Seongdong District, Seoul.
According to the Seoul Eastern District Court on Aug. 4, Presiding Judge Seo Beom-jun, in charge of warrants, issued an arrest warrant for a man in his 40s, identified as A, after holding a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (substantive warrant review).
A is accused of stabbing a foreign woman in her 50s, identified as B, with a weapon near Sangwangsimni Station in Seongdong District at about 1 a.m. on the 2nd and fleeing.
Judge Seo cited risk of flight and lack of a fixed residence as reasons for issuing the warrant for A.
B suffered a neck injury and was treated at a nearby hospital; her life is not in danger, according to reports.
Earlier, police chased down A after the crime and arrested the suspect, then requested an arrest warrant.
