On Monday the 3rd, with heat advisories in effect for most of the country, the sweltering heat will continue, with daytime highs rising to 39 C. The central region will be mostly cloudy at times, while the southern region and Jeju Island will be mostly clear. Brief showers are expected in the southern inland of Gangwon and northern North Chungcheong in the afternoon.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 2nd, on the 3rd the maximum apparent temperature in most parts of the country is forecast to rise to around 35 C.
In areas where showers fall, temperatures may temporarily drop, but after the rain stops, temperatures will rise again in high humidity, and the heat will continue.
Overnight, temperatures will not drop enough, and many areas will see tropical nights with lows staying at 25 C or higher. The Korea Meteorological Administration urged people in areas under a tropical night advisory to keep indoor temperatures cool and adjust the next day's outdoor activity plans to prevent heat-related illnesses.
On the 3rd, morning lows are expected to be 23–27 C and daytime highs 32–39 C. By major area, morning lows are 26 C in Seoul and Incheon; 25 C in Chuncheon and Daejeon; 26 C in Gangneung, Cheongju, Daegu, Jeonju, Ulleungdo and Dokdo; and 27 C in Gwangju, Busan and Jeju.
Daytime highs are forecast to be 37 C in Seoul, Daejeon and Cheongju; 34 C in Incheon, Gangneung and Jeju; 35 C in Chuncheon and Busan; 36 C in Jeonju; 39 C in Daegu and Gwangju; and 31 C in Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
In the southern inland of Gangwon and the northern part of North Chungcheong, showers are expected between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Expected rainfall is 5–10 mm.
From dawn to morning, fog will form in parts of the west coast and inland. Some areas on the South Jeolla coast will see dense fog with visibility under 200 meters, and fog with visibility under 1 kilometer will form in parts of the Incheon and Gyeonggi west coast, the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, the Chungcheong region, and parts of the Jeolla region.
There is a chance of sea fog over the West Sea and the southwestern sea until morning, so vessels navigating or operating should pay attention to safety.
In some island areas, drizzle may fall along with dense fog with visibility under 200 meters. Passengers using maritime transport should check operation information before departure.
Fine dust levels will be at a "moderate" level in all regions nationwide. However, in some central and southeastern areas, concentrations may temporarily rise in the morning and at night as lingering fine dust from the previous day and domestically generated fine dust accumulate due to stagnant air. In the afternoon, as atmospheric dispersion improves, concentrations are expected to decrease.
