On the first day of August, a heat wave and tropical nights are expected to continue across most of the country.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 1st, the day's maximum apparent temperature will climb to around 35 degrees in most areas nationwide, bringing very hot conditions. In particular, South Gyeongsang is forecast to see apparent temperatures soar above 38 degrees, requiring extra caution such as refraining from outdoor activities.
Morning lows are forecast at 25–31 degrees, with daytime highs at 32–38 degrees. Tropical nights, when temperatures do not fall below 25 degrees overnight, are also expected to persist across most regions.
As of 5 a.m., temperatures in major cities were 27.5 degrees in Seoul, 27.0 in Incheon, 26.3 in Chuncheon, 30.7 in Gangneung, 25.9 in Daejeon, 26.9 in Gwangju, 27.8 in Daegu, 29.7 in Busan, and 28.3 in Jeju.
The Korea Meteorological Administration urged the public to stay well hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor activities or strenuous work, noting that special care is needed to prevent heat-related illnesses while the heat wave continues.
Ultraviolet rays will also be very strong at midday. The Korea Meteorological Administration projected that from noon, the ultraviolet index in most regions will be at a "very high" level.
Waves are expected at 0.5–1.5 meters on the East Sea's nearshore, 0.5 meters on the West Sea's nearshore, and 0.5–1.0 meters on the South Sea's nearshore, while the inner offshore is forecast at 0.5–1.5 meters in the East Sea and 0.5–1.0 meters in the West and South seas.
