Yongin in Gyeonggi Province said on the 30th that starting in Aug., it will add a stop in front of Chodang High School to village bus route No. 810-1, which operates in the Dongbaek district of Giheung-gu.
Until now, unlike routes No. 810 and No. 810-2, village bus No. 810-1 did not pass the stop in front of Chodang High School. As a result, students taking that route bus had to get off and walk about 600 meters, causing inconvenience.
In response, Yongin adjusted the route so that No. 810-1 also stops at the stop in front of Chodang High School for students' convenience.
Yongin said the route adjustment is expected to reduce students' walking burden and have a practical effect of improving their commute to and from school.
Lee Sang-il, the mayor of Yongin, said, "It is meaningful as a case of improving everyday public transportation in a way that carefully reflects inconveniences in citizens' daily lives," adding, "Although it is a small route adjustment, it will be a big change that students can feel every day."
