Woni of the group RESCENE revealed for the first time how Woni felt about the so-called "Museobno" speech controversy that recently spread online. But as criticism mounted that the content was explicit, the video was set to private.
In an advance clip of the KBS YouTube channel "Kebaecksoo Original" variety show "Don Seon-tae," unveiled on the 29th, RESCENE's Woni and Minami appeared as guests and were shown talking with Kim Seon-tae, who previously gained fame as "Chungju Man."
Host Kim Seon-tae cautiously brought up the "Museobno" remark that had drawn public attention. Woni said Woni suffered a major psychological shock at the time.
Woni said, "I was only imagining myself popping up on YouTube and music shows, and then suddenly, overnight, I was on the news like this, and it was really scary," adding, "What I felt then was that I really need to be careful with every single word."
Woni continued, "Even if I didn't mean it that way when I said it, some people can take it that way, so I was really flustered," and added, "It was actually just a phrase I use, and 'no' is actually often in interjections."
To Woni, Kim Seon-tae said, "I acknowledge that perspectives differ, but it's kind of at the level of baseless hate," and asked, "Wasn't there anyone who said this was a kind of viral effect?"
The issue began when, during a past shoot for the group's own video content, a rattling noise came from the waiting room area, and in response to a producer's aside of "museobno," Woni echoed it, adding, "Museobno, even the lighting is scary."
Afterward, some internet users claimed that the speech pattern of adding 'no' to the end of words is a slang term used on the far-right community Ilbe (Daily Best Archive) to mock the late President Roh Moo-hyun, and harsh criticism followed.
However, after this video was uploaded, some again brought up RESCENE's "Museobno" controversy and criticized the conversation as too explicit. In particular, KBS fueled controversy by tagging names unrelated to RESCENE and Woni—Hong Myung-bo, Lee Jae-yong, Min Hee-jin, NewJeans, Han Dong-hoon—in the Shorts version of the video.
As criticism intensified, the video has now been set to private, and the "Kebaecksoo Original" channel itself has also been made private.
