A man in his 50s accused of killing a woman at an officetel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, has been arrested and detained.
On the 30th, Park Sarang, warrant-exclusive Director General judge at the Seoul Northern District Court, issued an arrest warrant for a suspect identified as A on a murder charge after a pretrial detention hearing, saying there were concerns about destruction of evidence and flight.
A did not appear for the scheduled pretrial detention hearing that morning. A was urgently arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing a woman in her 50s with a weapon at an officetel in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, at dawn on the 28th.
A substance suspected to be narcotics was also found at the scene. A preliminary reagent test on A later came back positive for marijuana and methamphetamine, and police have asked the National Forensic Service for a detailed analysis.
In a police interview, A admitted using drugs but reportedly refused to answer about the time and place of use. A is also not speaking about the murder allegation.
So far, A and the deceased victim do not appear to have been family members or living together. Police plan to determine A's relationship with the victim and the motive through mobile phone forensics and other methods.
