Law firm (LLC) YulChon Digital Forensics & Discovery Center said on the 27th that it signed a business agreement with the Software Forensics Center to cooperate in the digital and software forensics fields.
The Software Forensics Center is a specialized institution jointly operated by the Korea Software Copyright Association and the Korea Association for Software Appraisal and Evaluation. It conducts analyses of progress and completeness in software contract disputes; software similarity analyses in copyright, trade secret, and patent disputes; and evaluations of development costs and value.
The two institutions signed an agreement on mutual exchange and business cooperation that day at the YulChon office in Parnas Tower in Samseong-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul.
Attendees at the signing ceremony included Son Do-il, YulChon managing partner and head of the Digital Forensics Center; Yu Byeong-han, president of the Korea Software Copyright Association; and Kim Si-yeol and Lee Dong-gyu, co-heads of the Software Forensics Center.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will promote advice related to software disputes; exchanges of professionals and knowledge information; academic and educational cooperation; and the identification of joint projects.
They plan to jointly respond to disputes that require both technical verification and legal response by combining YulChon's experience in digital evidence analysis and legal expertise with the Software Forensics Center's capabilities in software analysis and appraisal.
YulChon said that with the spread of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, disputes over source code similarity; copyright and trade secret infringement; and the completeness of software deliverables are becoming more complex, increasing the need to link technical analysis with legal review.
A seminar was also held to commemorate the signing of the agreement. YulChon adviser Lee Min-hyeong gave a presentation on the theme "Digital forensics in the AI era: changes in the investigation paradigm." Co-head Kim Si-yeol explained the implications for the software forensics model of the "POSAR test," an analytical method for determining whether a software program infringes copyright.
Center head Son said, "Digital evidence and software analysis are playing an increasingly important role in the process of corporate investigations and dispute resolution," adding, "we will create a practical cooperation model based on the expertise and experience of the two institutions."
President Yu noted, "By combining the Software Forensics Center's technical expertise with YulChon's legal expertise, we will establish a reliable foundation for dispute resolution."
