A six-vehicle pileup occurred near Nowon Station in Nowon District, Seoul, injuring nine people.
According to police and fire authorities on the 26th, at about 8:08 a.m. that day, a vehicle driven by a person surnamed A rear-ended three cars in succession that were waiting at a signal on a seven-lane road near Nowon Station in Sanggye-dong, Nowon District, Seoul. The driver is also believed to have rear-ended two other vehicles earlier.
Nine people were injured in the crash, and eight of them were taken to hospitals. One of the vehicles involved was a police patrol car, and two police officers on board were also injured and taken to a hospital.
All the injured are believed to be in non-life-threatening condition.
No signs of alcohol or drugs were found in the driver. The driver reportedly claimed the vehicle suddenly accelerated.
Police plan to collect the driver's urine and request a detailed test from the National Forensic Service.
