A court has ruled that Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, must pay 944 billion won to Roh Soh-yeong, director of Art Center Nabi and his former wife, as a property division payment.
The Seoul High Court's Family Division 1 (Presiding Judge Lee Sang-ju) delivered the ruling at 2 p.m. on the 24th in the remand trial of the property division lawsuit between Chey and Roh.
The reference date for the property division is Apr. 16, 2024, when arguments concluded in the trial courts (first instance and appeal) of the divorce claim. The division ratio is two-thirds for Chey and one-third for Roh.
The court said it "considered that a significant portion of the couple's joint property consists of assets formed or acquired during the marriage," and noted it "took into account, for equitable distribution, that the value of shares held by Chey rose sharply after the close of arguments in the appeal before remand."
Chey must pay in cash the shortfall in Roh's share under the property division ratio.
