A high school student who snatched a gold bar after asking to see it at a jewelry shop and a middle school student who kept watch have been handed over to prosecutors.
On the 24th, Jongno Police Station in Seoul said it referred high school student A and middle school student B to prosecutors.
They are accused of stealing a gold bar worth about 7.5 million won at a jewelry shop at about 4:25 p.m. on the 17th.
A asked the shop owner to show a gold bar, then ran off with it. The shop owner caught A after a chase of about 70 meters. At the time, A had a weapon in a pocket.
Police also urgently arrested B, who had been keeping watch nearby.
Police later sought arrest warrants for both students, but the court issued a warrant only for B. The warrant for A was reportedly denied on the grounds there was no risk of evidence destruction.
