A fire broke out inside an apartment management office in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang.
According to police and Gyeongsan City on the 23rd, at around 8:29 a.m. that day, a fire believed to have been caused by an explosion broke out inside the management office of an apartment in Sadong, Gyeongsan.
No one was killed in the incident, but eight people were injured. One of them was reported to be in critical condition. Many of the injured were older adults who had gathered at a senior center next to the management office.
Police believe the explosion occurred during a gathering of apartment management office staff. A witness said, "One person entered the management office, sprayed a flammable substance, and set it on fire." The person suspected of arson was also injured and taken to a hospital.
The apartment had reportedly seen conflict between the management office and some residents before. On the day of the fire, they were also said to have gathered to hold a meeting over management rules.
Police plan to determine the exact circumstances of the incident once firefighting operations are completed.
