The baby panda, the third in Korea to be born through natural breeding, marked 50 days since birth and showed how much it has grown.
Everland, operated by Samsung C&T's resort division, on the 23rd released the developmental status and vivid daily life of the new mascot of Panda World, a baby panda.
Born at 10:53 a.m. on June 3 as the love's fruit of mother Ai Bao and father Le Bao, this female baby panda weighed only 171g at birth. But after nearly two months, her weight has increased 13-fold to surpass 2.3kg.
Growth indicators have also changed noticeably. Not only did both eyes open wide recently, but neck muscles developed enough for her to hold up her head on her own. In addition, as the first downy fur began to shed, the panda's signature deep black patterns around the eyes, ears and shoulders have settled in more clearly. These days, she is starting to take on the full form of a panda, even mimicking crawling by pushing herself along on her belly while lying on the floor.
The young panda is currently growing under the mother's care while receiving systematic management from Everland keepers and veterinarians, as well as experts dispatched from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
Meanwhile, the naming contest for the baby panda, held through Everland's official social media (SNS) from the 13th to the 19th, drew more than 10,000 comments, demonstrating strong interest. Everland plans to soon finalize the baby panda's name and the announcement schedule.
