Friday the 24th is expected to bring rain mainly to the capital area and Gangwon Province. Most regions nationwide are also forecast to see sweltering heat with maximum apparent temperatures topping 33 degrees.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 23rd, the capital area and Gangwon Province will be mostly cloudy with rain under the influence of a stationary front. Chungcheong and the southern regions, as well as Jeju Island, will lie on the edge of the North Pacific high, bringing frequent clouds and scattered showers in places.
Expected rainfall is 30–80 mm in the five West Sea Islands, 20–60 mm in northern Incheon and Gyeonggi, and 5–40 mm in southern Seoul and Gyeonggi. Gangwon's inland and mountainous areas will see 20–60 mm, with more than 80 mm possible in parts of the northern inland.
In regions expecting showers, projected rainfall is 5–40 mm each for Daejeon, Sejong, and North and South Chungcheong, 5–40 mm for Gwangju, South Jeolla, Daegu, the inland of North Gyeongsang, and the northeastern mountains, and around 5 mm for Jeju Island. These rains may also come with gusty winds and thunder and lightning.
Most regions nationwide will continue to see heat with maximum apparent temperatures rising to 33 degrees or higher. In addition, parts of the southern regions and Jeju are likely to experience tropical nights, with temperatures staying at 25 degrees or higher even at night, requiring extra caution for health management.
Morning lows are expected to be 22–26 degrees, with daytime highs reaching 29–38 degrees.
Waves will run 0.5–1.0 meters on the near seas off the East, West, and South coasts. On the open seas within about 200 km of the coastline, wave heights are expected to be 0.5–1.5 meters in the East and West Seas and 0.5–1.0 meters in the South Sea.
Fine dust concentrations are expected to be at a "good" level nationwide due to rainfall and smooth atmospheric dispersion.
