A suspect who damaged the vehicle ridden by Democratic Party of Korea former leader Jung Chung-rae has been arrested by police.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul said on the 22nd that on the afternoon of the 21st it apprehended a man in his 50s, identified as A, who kicked and struck former leader Jung's vehicle with his feet and tools, and is currently investigating.
Police are investigating additional charges to be applied, including property damage.
Police also plan to confirm details such as the circumstances of striking the vehicle through a summons investigation without executing an arrest warrant.
A is suspected of kicking and striking former leader Jung's vehicle with his feet and tools at about 7 p.m. on the 20th in Yeouido, after a joint speech for the preliminary primary of the party convention at the Democratic Party of Korea headquarters.
Former leader Jung's side, in a media notice on the 21st, disclosed the vehicle attack and said, "We express deep regret over the threats and violence directed at the candidate who was inside the vehicle."
It has not been confirmed whether A is a Democratic Party of Korea member or a supporter of a specific candidate.
