Kim Keon-hee appeared on the 22nd to be questioned by the second special counsel for a comprehensive probe over the so-called "residence transfer allegations."
Kim arrived at the comprehensive special counsel's office in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, at 9:30 a.m. that day in a Ministry of Justice transport vehicle. This is the first time Kim has been summoned as a suspect to the special counsel for questioning. Kim had previously postponed her appearance twice due to health reasons.
Kim is suspected of receiving expensive luxury goods from 21 Gram, an interior firm with which she had a personal relationship, and brokering so that 21 Gram, an unqualified company, won the residence construction contract through a private contract in return.
She is also suspected of involvement in illegally diverting the Ministry of the Interior and Safety budget, in collusion with former Presidential Chief of Staff Kim Dae-gi and former Presidential Office Management Secretary Kim Oh-jin, to pay construction costs to 21 Gram.
The special counsel is expected to focus in that day's questioning on how 21 Gram came to take on the residence transfer construction. It is said to have prepared a questionnaire totaling 150 pages of A4 paper.
