Oh Se-hoon, the Seoul mayor, on the 22nd addressed President Lee Jae-myung's apartment sale process, saying, "A market where even the president has to ponder methods like this to sell a single home. What could be more conclusive proof of regulatory failure than this?"
On social media (SNS) that day, Oh said this in a post titled "Ten million Seoul residents also have ten million circumstances," shared alongside an article about the president's sale of the Bundang home.
Oh said, "I have no intention of criticizing the president's transaction," adding, "It may even be something to be grateful for."
He added, "Because the president personally proved how abnormal the market has become under the current real estate regulations."
Oh continued, "If flexibility was needed for the president, it is far more desperately needed for the public," adding, "There is, however, one difference between the president and the public. The president had a way, and a genuine first-time homebuyer with no home, bound by a 200 million won loan limit, has no way at all."
Referring to the real estate policy forum chaired by President Lee Jae-myung scheduled for the 23rd, Oh said, "I hear the president will directly discuss real estate policy with the public," adding, "It comes at a good time. Please check what the public has been voicing most as the forum approaches."
He went on to say, "It is a desperate plea to fix the uniform loan regulations that are choking people," adding, "If you remember the frustration you likely felt in this transaction, you will be able to answer at that venue tomorrow."
