With the summer vacation season underway, the departure halls at Incheon International Airport will open earlier than usual, and inspection staff will be increased.
The Ministry of Justice said on the 22nd it will implement a "special duty plan for immigration inspection at Incheon Airport" for the summer peak season. The period runs from the 23rd to Aug. 8.
During this period, Incheon Airport will open the departure halls early. At Terminal 1, Departure Hall 2 will be available from 5:30 a.m. and Departure Hall 4 from 6 a.m., and at Terminal 2, Departure Hall 2 will be available from 5 a.m.
Inspector start times have also been moved up. At Terminal 1, inspection staff will increase from 24 to 32, and at Terminal 2, from 14 to 20. General departments will also support immigration inspection.
Families departing with minor children will be able to register for automated immigration clearance inside the departure hall during the summer peak season. Until now, minors had to visit the external immigration service center outside the departure hall to register for automated immigration clearance.
Minister Jung Sung-ho of the Ministry of Justice said, "During this summer peak season, we will mobilize all inspection capabilities so that our citizens using Incheon Airport do not experience inconvenience in the immigration process."
