A woman who blocked the entrance of the Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium in Songpa District, Seoul, where a ballot-counting center was set up last month, hindering sports organizations from entering, now faces possible arrest.
On the 21st at 2:30 p.m., Seo Beom-jun, the warrant-judge Director General at the Seoul Eastern District Court, held a pretrial detention review (substantive warrant hearing) for a woman surnamed A on suspicion of obstruction of business.
A is a woman in her 30s who has been called "Oldarq" on social media (SNS). Oldarq is a shortened form of "Olympic Park Joan of Arc."
A arrived at court at about 2:24 p.m., wearing glasses and a black top. At the time of the obstruction, she had wrapped a U.S. flag around her waist, but on this day she wore a badge on her chest with the U.S. flag and the Taegeukgi side by side.
A is accused of obstructing the work of the sports organizations by holding the door alone and enduring for about two hours when participants in the ballot center blockade protest and People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok agreed to allow the sports organizations to enter the Handball Gymnasium on the 16th and then attempted to go inside.
The day before, A also posted a video titled "Oldarq arrest warrant, I will tell you directly" on her YouTube account, revealing the contents of the warrant.
According to this, the warrant states that A neutralized the agreement among the main opposition party lawmakers, the sports association head, and police, committed a serious obstruction-of-business crime, made it impossible to know when the ballot center blockade would be lifted, and that strict punishment is needed to prevent another "Oldarq" from appearing.
However, A did not answer questions from reporters such as "What will you explain at the review?" and "Do you acknowledge the obstruction-of-business charge?"
Meanwhile, detention reviews were also held for one man in his 30s and three men in their 20s.
The man in his 30s is reportedly suspected of illegally searching the women's handball junior national team that entered the Handball Gymnasium last month (aggravated coercion), while the men in their 20s are suspected of blocking the way of police officers while hurling insults by calling them "Chinese police" (obstruction of the performance of special official duties).
