Seoul Facilities Corporation said that starting on the 21st it will provide a 30-day pass (1-hour usage coupon, worth 5,000 won) as compensation to about 4.62 million citizens affected by the leak of member information from Seoul's public bicycle service "Ttareungyi."
The compensation coupons will be provided through the Ttareungyi application in August. They can be used within three months from the time of issuance. For members who already hold a pass, it can be used within three months after the existing pass expires.
The corporation will also provide individual MMS texts and website notices to citizens affected by the leak. The notice text will include each person's actual leaked items—ID, mobile phone number, date of birth, gender, weight, email, postal code, address, guardian's mobile phone number, date of birth, and gender—along with the circumstances of the leak and tips to prevent harm. The actual leaked items may differ by member depending on the time and channel of registration.
Texts will be sent out sequentially at about 1.2 million per day. If the phone number has changed or text reception is blocked, delivery may fail. In that case, you can contact the call center or email to check which items were leaked.
The corporation said that since the incident on June 2024, no cases have been confirmed in which the leaked personal information has been leaked or distributed to a third party or has led to secondary harm.
Kang Yeong, president of Seoul Facilities Corporation, said, "We apologize for the concern and inconvenience to citizens caused by this personal information leak," adding, "We will overhaul our security system and work closely with relevant agencies so citizens can use Ttareungyi with confidence."
