With up to 100 mm of rain expected in Seoul on the 21st, all 29 streams in the city were closed.
The Seoul city government said heavy rain is expected, starting with 30 to 100 mm of rain on this day and continuing through the 22nd (20 to 60 mm) and the 23rd (30 to 80 mm). According to the city, Eunpyeong District saw a peak hourly rainfall of 53.5 mm early this morning.
Due to the downpour, the roadway under Jeungsan Bridge was temporarily closed for about an hour from 4:10 a.m. to 5:17 a.m. the same day. There were also 12 damage reports, including seven drainage assists, one fallen tree, and four facility safety measures.
The Seoul city government is proceeding with drainage, including partially operating two stormwater pump stations.
With heavy rain in the forecast, the Seoul city government issued first-stage staffing from 11 p.m. on the 20th, the previous day. A total of 3,206 people are on duty, including 347 city employees and 2,859 district office employees.
The Seoul city government asked all agencies and departments to ensure thorough safety management in preparation for heavy rain.
