Commissioner Yoo Byung-ho, who is accused of carrying out a lax audit of the presidential residence transfer during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, was arrested on the 20th.
On this day, Lee Jong-rok, the Seoul Central District Court's warrant judge and Director General, issued an arrest warrant for Commissioner Yoo, who is accused of abuse of authority, after holding a pretrial detention hearing, saying there were concerns he could destroy evidence.
Commissioner Yoo is accused of being involved in scaling back or concealing the audit findings while serving as secretary general of the Board of Audit and Inspection during the 2022–2024 audit of the presidential residence transfer.
The special counsel believes Commissioner Yoo performed the residence transfer audit inadequately, including by ordering a written inquiry instead of an in-person interview of the interior firm "21Gram," which is known to have ties to Kim Keon-hee. The special counsel applied the charge of abuse of authority and sought an arrest warrant for Commissioner Yoo.
