Police were dispatched after a threatening post saying a knife rampage would be carried out at the National Pension Service building in Jeonju, North Jeolla, was uploaded.
According to Jeonju Deokjin Police Station and others on the 20th, at about 12:46 p.m. that day, a post titled "I live in Jeonju and there will be a stabbing at the National Pension Service today" was uploaded to an online community. The writer said, "Someone really has to die for people to come to their senses. Words won't do."
The first report that discovered the threatening post and alerted authorities came in to the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency. After receiving the information from Incheon police, North Jeolla police immediately deployed security personnel to the agency.
So far, no warning signs such as someone plotting the crime or a person acting suspiciously have been detected.
The investigation into the community member's registration information is reportedly underway at the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency.
Meanwhile, the KOSPI closed at 6,516.27, down 304.33 points from the previous trading day, due to a plunge in semiconductor stocks and institutional selling. Samsung Electronics fell to 244,000 won and SK hynix to 1,764,000 won, each down in the 4% range.
