The fire at the Coupang logistics center in Incheon that broke out on the 18th has not been extinguished for 23 hours.
According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters on the 19th, the fire that started at about 6:54 a.m. the previous day at the Coupang 32 Logistics Center in Seoknam-dong, Seohae District, had not been put out as of 6 a.m. that day, 23 hours later.
The logistics center has eight above-ground floors and a total floor area of 299,000 square meters. The fire started on the sixth floor above ground and spread to the seventh.
Combustible household goods are stacked on the sixth floor of the logistics center, and the interior space is wide, making it difficult for fire authorities to extinguish the blaze. Fire authorities said thick smoke and extreme heat made entry inside difficult, so they are using the ramp area on the side of the building to fight the fire.
Fire authorities are maintaining the national firefighting mobilization order issued at about 3:15 p.m. the previous day. A total of 198 pieces of equipment, including high-rise ladder trucks, large-capacity foam discharge systems, and high-performance chemical trucks, and 549 personnel, including firefighters and police officers, were deployed to the scene.
