Flood warnings were issued for Gangseo District, Eunpyeong District and Mapo District. Traffic was also restricted on several roads, including the Dongbu arterial road.
According to the Seoul city government on the 18th, as heavy rain fell overnight, as of 7:30 a.m. that day, flood warnings were issued for Gangseo District, Eunpyeong District and Mapo District. Flood advisories were issued for Mapo District and Yangcheon District.
A flood warning is issued when hourly rainfall reaches at least 50 millimeters and 3-hour rainfall reaches at least 90 millimeters. A flood advisory is issued when hourly rainfall reaches at least 55 millimeters and 20 millimeters of rain falls within 15 minutes.
In particular, as the water level of the Jungnang Stream rose, traffic on the entire Dongbu arterial road (Surak underpass–Seongsu JC) was completely closed. Roads including the areas under Jeungsan Bridge and Haengju 1 Bridge and Garam-gil are also being controlled.
Rain in Seoul is forecast to continue through the 19th. The expected rainfall in Seoul over the three days starting the previous day is 100–200 millimeters, with more than 300 millimeters in some areas.
The Seoul city government said it will maintain intensive heavy rain management and an emergency response system and respond thoroughly.
