A national fire mobilization order was issued at the scene of the fire at the Coupang logistics center in Incheon. Firefighters have struggled to contain the blaze because the logistics center covers a large area and contains many combustibles.
According to fire authorities on the 18th, the National Fire Agency issued a national fire mobilization order at 3:15 p.m. for the scene of the fire at the Coupang logistics center in Seoknam-dong, Seohae District, Incheon.
A national fire general mobilization order is a measure in which the National Fire Agency commissioner requests the mobilization of firefighting resources from other cities and provinces when it is difficult to respond with only the firefighting capacity of the jurisdictional city or province, or when firefighting activities are deemed necessary at the national level.
The Incheon Fire Headquarters earlier raised the response level to level 2 at about 12:25 p.m. at the Coupang logistics center fire scene and moved to respond, but it was reported to have faced difficulties in extinguishing the fire.
Response level 1 deploys all personnel from the jurisdictional fire station, and response level 2 is an alert that mobilizes personnel and equipment from five to six nearby fire stations.
Under the national fire mobilization order, fire authorities mobilized equipment from five regions—Seoul, Gyeonggi, North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, and Gangwon—including four high-platform ladder trucks, 13 fire tankers, and one unmanned firefighting robot.
The fire at the Coupang logistics center in Incheon started at about 6:54 a.m. on the sixth floor of Coupang's No. 32 logistics center in Seohae District, Incheon. A total of 121 people, including logistics center employees, evacuated on their own, and no casualties have been reported so far.
The National Fire Agency emphasized, "We will mobilize all available firefighting resources to bring the fire under control early and do our utmost to ensure the safety of firefighters on the scene and prevent further damage."
