A man in his 70s who lured a woman demanding debt repayment to a hillside and tried to kill her was sentenced to seven years in prison on appeal as well.
According to legal sources, the Criminal Division 1-3 of the Daegu High Court dismissed both the prosecution's and the defendant's appeals in the appellate trial of A, a man in his 70s indicted on attempted murder charges. Earlier, the first trial court sentenced A to seven years in prison.
A was brought to trial on charges of attempting to murder B, in her 60s, by taking her to a hillside in Sancheong County, South Gyeongsang, and striking her multiple times with a blunt object after she demanded repayment of 420 million won she had lent him on June 4, 2024, but failing to kill her.
The court said, "Considering various circumstances together, it is reasonable to find that the defendant had intent to kill," and added, "There is no particular change in the sentencing factors compared with the original judgment."
