The fire at the Coupang logistics center in Incheon appeared to be stubbornly resisting containment. Fire authorities were said to have mobilized personnel and equipment from adjacent fire stations.
According to fire authorities on the 18th, the Incheon Fire Headquarters issued a level-2 response at about 12:25 p.m. at the scene of the fire at the Coupang logistics center in Seoknam-dong, Seohae District, Incheon.
Fire authorities had issued a level-1 response at about 9:15 a.m. the same day, then raised the alert, judging that the large interior area of the logistics center and the abundance of combustibles would make extinguishing the fire take a long time.
A level-1 response deploys all personnel from the jurisdictional fire station, while a level-2 response is an alert that mobilizes personnel and equipment from five to six adjacent fire stations; 219 personnel and 79 vehicles, including pump trucks, were deployed.
The fire at the Coupang logistics center in Incheon began at about 6:54 a.m. on the sixth floor of Coupang Logistics Center No. 32 in Seohae District, Incheon. A total of 121 people, including logistics center employees, evacuated on their own, and no casualties have been reported so far.
Seohae District, Incheon, said in a safety alert text message, "Nearby residents should take precautions and vehicles should detour."
