Police are making inquiries to find a taxi driver who helped urgently transport a 12-month-old baby who lost consciousness due to a high fever.
According to the Incheon Namdong Police Station on the 16th, at about 9:27 p.m. on the 4th, a taxi driver identified as A approached a parked patrol car in a hurry while repeatedly flashing high beams on a road in Guwol-dong, Namdong District, Incheon.
After getting out of the taxi with a guardian identified as B, who was holding a girl, A asked the officers for help, saying they were transporting a 12-month-old baby who had lost consciousness due to a high fever to a hospital.
Confirming the urgency of the situation, the officers immediately put the baby and the mother, B, into the patrol car and headed to the emergency room of a nearby major hospital.
Thanks to drivers and pedestrians who yielded after hearing the siren, it took less than a minute to reach the hospital. The baby received emergency treatment, recovered health, and was discharged safely.
B said that, being overwhelmed, B could not get the taxi driver's contact information and wanted to convey thanks. B said, "The situation was so urgent that I couldn't get the driver's personal details," adding, "I would like to express my thanks, so please contact me."
Police are waiting to hear from A, who helped transport the baby and the guardian, or from anyone who knows A. Tips can be provided to the Incheon Namdong Police Station (☎032-718-9221).
A police official said, "We thank the taxi driver who helped save a precious life and all Incheon citizens who yielded the way," adding, "If the taxi driver is identified, we plan to present a letter of appreciation."
