In Jeongeup, North Jeolla Province, a sedan collided with a vehicle escorting Chief Justice Jo Hee-de, injuring three people.
According to the Jeongeup Police Station on the 14th, at about 1:50 p.m. that day, at an intersection in Ongdong-myeon, Jeongeup, a sedan driven by a person in their 60s, identified as A, struck the side of the vehicle escorting Chief Justice Jo Hee-de.
Two members of Jo's security detail and A were injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital.
At the time of the crash, A's sedan entered the intersection from a road with a flashing red signal, and the escort vehicle was going straight on a road with a flashing yellow signal, it was found.
The car carrying Jo had already passed through the intersection before the crash occurred, according to initial findings.
Jo was reportedly in North Jeolla Province that day for a circuit visit to district courts.
Police believe driver inattention caused the crash, and the exact circumstances are under investigation.
