Entertainer Park Narae was sent to prosecutors on suspicion of operating a one-person agency without registering it.
According to the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on the 14th, Park was referred to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the 9th on suspicion of violating the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act. This is because, starting in 2024, Park set up and ran a one-person agency without going through the registration process for popular culture and arts agencies.
Under the current Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act, anyone seeking to engage in popular culture and arts agency work, such as running a management company, must register with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. If unregistered, a person can face up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.
Park was also referred on the 10th on suspicion of aggravated assault and violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. The disposition followed complaints filed by former managers who alleged abuse of power.
