Former Cheongdo County head Kim Ha-su of North Gyeongsang Province, who failed to win reelection in the local election in June, was found dead in a low mountain.
According to police and fire authorities on the 13th, at about 7 a.m. that day, a firefighter who had joined the search operation found the former county head dead in a low mountain in Cheongdo-eup, Cheongdo County, North Gyeongsang Province.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the former county head Kim's death.
While serving as Cheongdo County head, the former county head Kim had been under police investigation on suspicion of involvement in misconduct in the personnel process.
Recently, an aide to the former county head Kim, who was identified as being linked to the alleged personnel misconduct, died, and some of those involved in the case were arrested.
The former county head Kim was also investigated on suspicion of joint housebreaking. In January, he was sent to prosecutors on suspicion of entering a nursing home director's house without permission with one Cheongdo County Office employee.
The former county head Kim ran for a second term as Cheongdo County head as the People Power Party candidate in the local election held in June but lost to independent candidate Park Gwon-hyeon.
