A cram school instructor in his 60s who committed multiple sex crimes against a teenage student was sentenced to prison.
The Changwon District Court Criminal Division 2 (Presiding Judge Kim Sung-hwan) said on the 12th it sentenced a man in his 60s, identified as A, to five years in prison on charges including quasi-rape of a minor. The court also ordered A to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and imposed a seven-year employment ban at institutions related to children and teenagers and facilities for people with disabilities.
A was brought to trial on charges of committing sex crimes three times against his teenage student, identified as B, from July 2023 to February 2025.
He is also charged with secretly filming B's body during the crimes.
The court said, "As an instructor, he treated his underage student as an object to satisfy sexual desire, making the nature of the crime very poor, and he has not shown sincere reflection, such as denying part of the offenses," but added, "We considered that he is a first-time offender with no prior criminal punishments," in explaining the sentence.
