Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-jung said, "We will do our best to realize an 'AI (artificial intelligence) democratic government' that people can feel."
The Minister said in a written congratulatory message at the "2026 Administrative AX Forum" held at the Westin Josun Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, on Jan. 9, "We will actively reflect the various policy proposals and on-site experiences presented at this forum to further advance public AX (AI transition) policy," and stated accordingly. The forum was hosted by ChosunBiz and organized by data tech corporations Bigvalue.
The Minister said, "AI is now fundamentally changing the paradigm of industry, the economy, and society as a whole, beyond simple technological innovation," adding, "It is no exaggeration to say that the competitiveness of nations and corporations depends on how quickly and effectively they achieve the AI transition."
He added, "In this regard, the theme of this forum, 'Administrative AX, beyond artificial intelligence to national intelligence,' clearly shows that the AI transition is a key task that will determine the future competitiveness of the nation."
The Minister also explained the AI transition strategy being pursued by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), the lead agency for public AX. He said, "The government announced the 'world's best AI democratic government realization strategy,'" adding, "The AI democratic government realization strategy sets 'a competent government for the people,' 'a government together with the people,' and 'a government friendly to the people' as its three main directions, and is a blueprint to realize the basic rights of the people using AI technology and to implement a democratic government that every person can feel."
The Minister also said, "To build a foundation for AI use in the public sector, we are operating the 'Artificial Intelligence Government Lab,' in which civil servants directly develop work-efficiency programs using AI technologies such as conversational coding," adding, "We aim to expand 'OnAI,' an AI-based administrative work system, to all ministries by the end of this year."
He continued, "We will also gradually advance the functions of the 'AI National Secretary' so that people can easily and conveniently receive administrative services through private apps they frequently use in daily life."
