A nursing assistant in her 20s who started her first day at a dermatology clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, was taken into police custody on suspicion of administering propofol inside the hospital.
According to police on the 7th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul arrested a woman in her 20s, identified as A, in the act on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropics) on the 2nd and is under investigation.
A is suspected of administering propofol into her own arm in a restroom at a dermatology clinic in Gangnam District, Seoul. Propofol is a medical narcotic used for sedation and anesthesia and falls under controlled psychotropic substances. A was said to have committed the act on the first day she reported to the clinic as a nursing assistant.
Police found that A extracted leftover propofol from a syringe discarded in the hospital's medical waste bin, transferred it to another syringe, and injected it.
Police are investigating A without detention and checking the exact circumstances. Police also plan to look into whether A habitually administered propofol.
