At a hair salon in Geoje, South Gyeongsang, an incident occurred in which a man in his 80s wielded a weapon, injuring two people including an employee and a customer.
According to Geoje Police Station and others on the 2nd, a 119 joint response call was received at about 11:31 a.m. reporting a rampage with a bladed weapon at a hair salon in Gohyeon-dong, Geoje.
A man in his 80s, identified as A, is suspected of stabbing a female employee in her 30s and a male customer in his 40s with a weapon.
After escaping the scene to avoid A's attack, the two victims were taken by responding ambulance to a nearby hospital. The woman in her 30s suffered serious injuries, while the man in his 40s was reported to have relatively minor injuries.
Police dispatched to the scene after the report arrested A at about 11:38 a.m. on suspicion of attempted murder.
A is believed to have ingested poison after the crime and is undergoing related tests at a hospital.
Police believe A prepared the weapon in advance and are investigating the exact motive and circumstances of the incident.
A police official said, "We believe A prepared the weapon in advance and carried out the crime, and we plan to apply for an arrest warrant after investigating the exact motive."
