Shin Yong-han, the North Chungcheong governor, is pushing fiscal normalization as the province's top policy priority.
According to North Chungcheong Province on the 1st, Shin approved the "Plan to form the North Chungcheong Province Fiscal Normalization Committee" as the first item after taking office.
The "Fiscal Normalization Committee" will operate as a body directly under the governor. It will comprehensively review expanded local government bonds and fiscal burdens during the eighth popularly elected term and establish a sustainable fiscal management system.
The committee will objectively examine the validity and investment effects of major fiscal projects and boldly readjust projects with low policy impact or poor fiscal efficiency.
An official of North Chungcheong Province said, "We plan to shift the provincial administration paradigm from showy, performative governance to livelihood-centered administration that residents can feel," adding, "Funds secured through fiscal normalization will be concentrated in areas that improve residents' quality of life, such as startups and future industry promotion, public health care, welfare, safety, youth, and support for small business owners."
Shin Yong-han said, "We will set straight the principles of fiscal management so that residents' precious taxes are used where they are most needed, and, based on sound finances, build a livelihood-centered administration that brings real changes to residents' lives."
