Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said on the 1st, "We will speed up dwellings supply with a goal of starting construction on 310,000 units by 2031," adding, "With the belief that housing stability is the foundation of life stability, we will make sure to ease citizens' worries about homes."
In his inaugural address that day, Oh said, "Housing is the foundation of quality of life before it is an asset," adding, "Only when housing is stable does life in Seoul become hope, not anxiety."
Regarding becoming a five-term Seoul mayor, Oh said, "I am well aware that five choices come with more than five times the responsibility," adding, "We will surely complete Seoul as a special city for quality of life recognized by the world."
He said, "Over the past 5 years, Seoul has again set its course straight. We restored the city's warmth by walking with the underprivileged, and revived the city's competitiveness by making Seoul a city of allure," adding, "Completion matters more than the start of change. Change is only complete when citizens say their lives have improved."
He continued, "Every policy of the ninth popularly elected Seoul administration will be judged solely by citizens' lives," adding, "We will work with the mindset that outcomes citizens do not feel are not true outcomes."
Oh presented the ninth-term core city agenda as ▲ Youth Seoul ▲ Healthy Seoul ▲ A Seoul without housing worries ▲ Fast Seoul ▲ A Seoul where alleys thrive.
He said, "We will guarantee AI basic rights for 500,000 young people," adding, "We will lower the threshold to learn and use future technologies, and build the groundwork for true fairness where people can compete on ability even without background." He continued, "We will provide practical competencies to young people preparing for jobs, solid tools to young people dreaming of startups, and a springboard for young people who are working."
Oh also said, "No matter how splendidly a city develops, if citizens' bodies and minds become ill and exhausted, that growth cannot last long," adding, "We will ensure differences in economic power do not lead to gaps in health."
He went on, "We will complete seven urban rail lines without setbacks and open the '10-minute walk to a subway station from my home' era," adding, "By improving rail, roads, and public transit systems together, we will reduce travel inconveniences and give back the time lost on commutes."
He also said, "We will build a Seoul where alleys come back to life," adding, "Livelihood recovery is only complete when customers return to shops and foot traffic resumes in once-quiet alleys." He added, "We will create 'night economy coexistence special zones' across Seoul, including Hongdae, Euljiro, Gangnam, and Yeouido, so citizens can enjoy richer nights and local commercial districts can gain vitality," and "We will make Seoul's night another reason people from around the world stay."
